Welcome!
I have dedicated this website to the humanitarian cause, but it is also a platform for my ideas and interests. Now, as in the past, my main interests are defining humanitarianism, determining how to become more humanitarian, and developing humanitarianism in others. I do not think there is any better way to achieve these personal goals than through writing.
I graduated with a Bachelors with Honors (BAH) in philosophy from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. I began university in economics, but moved to philosophy because it sharpened my mind and kept me questioning the questions. However, it was a question of economics that inspired Mainstream Idea. How can we make the supply of humanitarian aid meet the demand? To me, the answer is simply stated: increase the demand.
The task, easier said than done, is to make people in affluent countries clamor for humanitarian aid to be sent where it is needed, to make humanitarianism as popular as rock 'n' roll. In short, it is to make humanitarianism a mainstream idea.
This website and my writings are my contribution to the cause. Please take your time to have a look around.
Sincerely,
Andrew Fassett
